It’s a myth that policy change is only possible after a big disaster. Also, sometimes we know WHAT to do but not HOW to make it happen. On July 21st in the ninth Resilience Advantage Webinar, we covered current and potential strategies for cities, states, businesses, coalitions, and non-profits to achieve progress when it’s cheapest and most effective: before disaster strikes. The 20 minute episode and full 90 minute webinar recordings are now available.
Another stellar line-up of panelists joined the discussion, including:
- California State Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian of District 46, a leading lawmaker in pushing forward legislationto make Californians, their properties, and communities more resilient.
- Carlos Martín, Senior Fellow at the Urban Institute, will give examples and lessons from federal, philanthropic, housing-focused, and sustainability policies.
- Ron Takiguchi, PE, City of Burbank Building Official and Assistant Community Development Director, will share how he’s helped multiple cities inventory and implement vulnerable building programs.
- Matthew Wall, Executive Director, Western States Seismic Policy Council, rounds out the group to talk about policy trends and spread among high hazard states.
